Condolences
Diane, Michael & Family – My deepest sympathies go to you. As the many notes of condolence show, Doug was a man of humor, family, and community. We all had so much fun with him – at meetings, get-togethers or just talking over the back fence. But Doug was also much more than that: he was the guy you wanted in your corner when the challenge was the greatest. Our little Township of Arthur was under siege in March of 1989, and I will never forget Doug’s contribution of long hours of work (and persuasive lobbying) that summer, and his indefatigable spirit. He carried a lot of us, who were by then so tired, across the finish line. RIP big guy – the farmland in heaven is now in good hands. TM
— Terence Rothwell, January 9, 2021I was deeply saddened by the passing of Doug we played Euchre and had so much fun. He was a wonderful person made me laugh all the time always smiling he will be missed.
— Sue DeBartolo, January 7, 2021I had the pleasure to sit on the Township of Wellington North recreation committee with Doug. Doug was a straight shooter and was always willing to tell you the way it was. He was a cornerstone of the community and will be missed. There will be angels playing euchre with Doug.

— Tony and Betty, January 1, 2021Dear Diane, Michael and family, My condolences and I am so sorry for your loss. May God give you strength today and in the days ahead. Doug always knew how to bring a smile and depth to any conversation. There was no one exactly like him, a kind loving man with a great heart. As I pondered the sad news many fond memories of working with Doug flooded over me. Here are a few of them. Many years ago two young men met by what seemed to be by design and not merely by chance. Both ambitious and not completely settled in our current jobs dreaming of what could be. We may never know for certain yet possibly this may have what brought us together. Doug’s vision for what could be accomplished if he could get a job with MDL Doors and it’s founders vision blended and changed the company and the fenestration industry. Doug’s dedication brought great success to all at MDL. I am and have been one of the many whose lives have been touched by this amazing man. Respect, dedication and care for his family, friends, customers and employer to name a few. Going down memory lane brought back many great memories of our days working together. Rest In Peace Doug Mervin Lichty
