— Paul and Ruth Knox, September 7, 2012Judy was always a great lady to work with as a professional and I know she will be missed by family, friends and all.
— Gary J Martin CA, July 25, 2012Dear Family, Mrs Reidy was my teacher for Math and coached the girls basketball team in my first year of high school. I remember her fondly. Thanks to her and many other good teachers at Mount Forest High School, I went on to have a successful career in education myself. My condolences for your loss.
— Joan Stevenson, July 25, 2012I was sorry to learn of "Mrs Reidy's" death. I have fond memories of 1957-1962 at MFDHS when she first taught Home Ec then changed to Physics where she was my teacher. I remember enjoying physics and learned a lot. She insisted we do experiments for the course. Her lectures to address class misbehaviour were classic - she was determined we would become "civilized". I met her a few times over the years the last time in 2003 at the 100th anniversary of the parish. Rest in peace Ken Hanson - Toronto
— Ken Hanson, July 26, 2012Judy was a gem of a person and a gift to the community. I was deeply touched by this woman of faith and commitment. I will remember her in a special way at Mass and we pray that the promises made to her by her loving God will now be fulfilled and she will see Him face to face.
— Rev. Patrick M. Dobec, July 27, 2012My heart has broken hearing the news of her passing. Judy was a "grandmother" to our children and a very important member of our family. So many wonderful stories and adventures! I am so glad that I had a chance to talk to her recently because, as much as I would have loved to come to the funeral, I couldn't arrange it on short notice, coming from Salt Spring Island. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Sat..She will be missed! With love, Susan
— Susan Wetmore, July 27, 2012It's so strange to think that Judy knew me for my entire life. I can remember her and Ken sitting around my parent's kitchen table. I liked hanging around when they were visiting. At Hallowe'en you were very foolish if you didn't go to the Reidy's. Judy gave out regular sized chocolate bars when everyone else in town only gave out the small ones. I remember the terrible day that Ken passed away and having to tell my classmate who was cutting their lawn at the time. I recall feeding Barney the cat and the day Barney was hit and killed at the corner. When I got married it was just our parents and a Justice of the Peace and Judy still sent a beautiful crystal bowl! When Judy and Mom went to Portugal, Mom became very ill and thank goodness Judy was there to look after her. Judy and Mom used to go to Munshaw's Bistro in Flesherton until mobility issues forced them to stop. I think Judy may have been a preferred customer over there. At the other end, I recall a bus trip to Lion King where we ate lunch at a dubious pub in Orangeville (it has a plane crashed into the roof for dramatic effect). It wasn't the best inside but Judy absolutely loved the ribs. So while your first thought was Judy wouldn't like it , she proved you wrong. (It is a good thing she never had to use the washrooms though!) The last few years I'd visit once in a while... maybe taking over Christmas baking and Judy once gave me some delicious Chicken Cacciatore. She usually pulled out those tricky crosswords and would insist I help her finish it. She'd give me this look... it was like a challenge. We could usually finish it off. Actually, the last time I was over to drop off some Portuguese chicken (verdict: not like the real thing) Judy was contemplating her bathtub. She had me go in to check it out. I'm still kind of puzzled by that request. She had impeccable taste, the most beautiful handwriting, was a very good math teacher, a wonderful summer employer, the best cooking authority I ever met, and was just caring and compassionate and genuinely interested in people. Judy had told me one time that she was worried about being alone when the end was near. I understand you were here so I'm sure she didn't feel alone at all. A funny story-- you know how Judy wouldn't budge on some beliefs? Mom was a HUGE cat lover. One time she and Judy were discussing whether pets went to Heaven. Judy thought no...they don't have souls so they wouldn't be in Heaven. Mom , of course, thought they would definitely be in heaven. They debated it for a while and Judy wouldn't falter. Exasperated, Mom finally declared that if there really were no pets in Heaven then she wasn't going to go there! LOL. What a wonderful lady. She'll be missed. — Kelly (Birtwistle) Laughlin, July 27, 2012Mrs. Reidy was one of my favourite teachers in high school and provided excellent support to me and all the students as our guidance counsellor. It's been many years since she gave me advice but she had a strong influence on my future. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
— Dan Allen, July 28, 2012I will always remember math classes with Mrs Reidy. My condolences to the family. She will be remembered as a wonderful person and teacher.
