Catherine Gilfillan (nee McAuslin), of London and formerly of Mount Forest, passed away at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital, London on Friday, April 20th, 2018 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Thomas “Tom” Gilfillan. Loving mother of Cathy Spence, cherished grandmother of Derek Spence and Steph Becki, and Cheryl and Rob Walker and great-grandmother of Dominic Spence and Melody Spence. Loving mother of Jim Gilfillan and his wife Sandy, cherished grandmother of Angela and Brandon Smith, Fiona and Rod Scott, Katie Gilfillan and Jamie Vandermaas, Heather Gilfillan and Kyle Hunter, and Thomas Gilfillan and loving great-grandmother to her many great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by Brenda Flores and by her many nieces and nephews and their families. A funeral service celebrating Catherine’s life will be held at the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest on Monday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. Spring interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Such good memories of visits with tea and jelly roll with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Catherine... and those wonderful Scots accents. We never really heard Mom' s accent until she was with her sisters...and they all sounded wonderful.
