John Bouwers

BOUWERS, John Bert – It is with heavy hearts we announce John’s sudden passing at Waterloo Regional Health Networks, Kitchener on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in his 73rd year.

Beloved husband of Marlene (née Wrenn) of 48 years. Loving father of Emily (Mark) Bye, and Christopher Bouwers (Anastasiya Filatava). Adored Papa of Isabel, Russell and Abigail, and Opa of Sophia, Yan and another arriving in July. Dear brother of Eda Steringa, Jennie Geerlinks, Hendrik Bouwers (Fran), and brother-in-law of Elizabeth Geerlinks. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. John is predeceased by his parents, Roelof and Johanna Bouwers (née Askes), brother Dick Bouwers, and brothers-in-law Jake Steringa and Fred Geerlinks.

John loved being outdoors and could often be found tending to his gardens with his magical green-thumb. The only thing he loved more than basking in the sun was spending time with his family, and enjoying his precious grandchildren who brought a twinkle to his eyes. His endless faith and wisdom brought profound comfort to his family, and he will be forever cherished and remembered for his calm and reassuring presence in their lives.

A memorial service will take place at the Palmerston Christian Reformed Church, 400 Whites Road, Palmerston on Tuesday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with food and refreshments to follow. For those unable to attend the service, please click on the link below for a livestream of the memorial service.

Marlene, Emily, Christopher and families, it’s with such a heavy heart to leave this condolence. We have a lot of fond memories of time spent with our families and golfing with john. He was an awesome man with that dry, sarcastic sense of humour of his!! We feel blessed to have known him Sending our love to all of you Xo
