Barbara “Barb” Kerr

KERR, Barbara “Barb” – It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of our mother Barbara Kerr (née Edwards) on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus, just six days shy of her 91st birthday.

Beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Kerr (2017). Cherished mother of Norman and his wife Sandra of London, David and his wife Christine of Dundalk, Scott of Edmonton, Alberta, and Thomas and his wife Amanda of Holstein. Loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 13, soon to be 14 great-grandchildren. Barbara will be missed by a large extended family and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Mary Edwards, and by her step-mother Beth.

Barb was involved in social activities and was a long-time member of the Anglican Church. She was instrumental in organizing the local bridge club and travelling to various tournaments in Canada and the US. Some will remember Barb when she worked at L & M Foodmart in Mount Forest, as the produce manager.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Tuesday, April 15th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Mount Forest Branch 134, 140 King Street West, Mount Forest. Spring interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Barbara are asked to consider Cancer Patient Services. Condolences

My sincerest condolences on the passing of a lovely soul. I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Bob and Barb, through my Aunt Maxine and Uncle Charles Kerr and my parents, Joe and Betty Kerr. There are those beautiful souls that we are blessed to have met in this life, who will always live in our hearts, never to be forgotten. Rest now sweet lady and please give Bob a big hug for me.
May the Lord hold you all in the palm of his hand.

RIP Barb. When Brad and I came to a new town many years ago , Barb was a friendly face and a welcoming smile that I will never forget. I wish I had got in her bridge group but I thought there was still lots of time . Peggy & Brad Henderson

To Scott ,Tom, David and Norm.
We are so sorry to have to be writing this short note to you " Boys" ( as Barb always referred to you as).
Barb was the anchor with a big smile and a little chuckle.( along with a wink).
She was always so welcoming, gracious curious and truely interested in the well being of those she cared about.
Raising four "Hellion lads" was a feat in itself.
I had the pleasure of knowing Barb through her amazing husband Bob who was a part time employee and a dear friend.
Bob and Barb served as keen and responsible tour guides for some time at Fettes Tours for our Daytona long stay guests.
Bob was a tremendous help in the Rocky Run Sugar Bush along with his buddy Charles Kerr.
Barb ( and Maxine) would bring us lunches along with some wonderful homemade pies.
She and Bob hosted a small VIP group to Ireland for Fettes. I think this is where she acquired the taste for her staple, Jamieson .
Two nips after 6:00 never affected her mind for the sharp bridge play the following day.
She was an organizer for her passion, bridge, at St Paul's and many benefited from her volunteerism in this regard.
She also has been a surrogate grandmother to Robin Lind who loved her dearly.
Barb was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by so many who had the distinct pleasure of knowing her.

Deepest condolences to the Kerr family. She was a very special mother who loved life, especially her four sons. It didn't matter if you met her in a grocery store, at her home she always would give you a beautiful smile and a chat as well. She will be missed. She has left a lot of memories for everyone. I know you will treasure those memories in your heart. Praying for you all at this difficult time.

At least Barb came third (out of twelve) at Hanover bridge last Tuesday. Barb was an amazing woman. I didn't really get to know her until I started with bridge several years ago. We all appreciated how she organized our group and remembered everything that needed to be remembered. And her cookies and cakes were enjoyed so much. We will miss her.

Dear Norm, Dave, Scott, and Tom,
So many great memories of Barb (Mrs. Kerr to us of course) while we were growing up on Sligo Road. Barb always looked over the kids in the neighborhood. As we grew older we were also fortunate to have Barb and Bob as adult friends. Always a good story and a laugh when we met. We will miss both of them.
