Condolences
To the Vasey Family,
I was the GM at Calendon Country Club from 1985-1991... I am so sorry to learn of your mom's recent passing. I didn't hear about your dad passing until about a year or so afterward. With respect to your dad, I wish I had been able to visit him one more time - if nothing else but to say thank you ... he taught me so much about golf course management - and was so much fun to be around the clubhouse. And the stories.. wow... Gar had a ton of them - and what a sense of humor too. One golfer inparticular was "Red" who he often pulled practical jokes on (club between the wheels of the golf caddy, replacing good golf balls in Red's bag with chewed up ones, and the famous story when he had Red carry his bag all day so he could buy it at a special price, then telling Red he didn't owe him anything because his wife came in and bought it for him the day before !!! and on and on) ... When I left he and your mom took me out to dinner and I will cherish that moment always. It was a truly special evening. I remember when your mom started to become more involved helping in the proshop... just a wonderful person, she fit right in and I always looked forward to the days she would be working. Looking back those were great times and I sure enjoyed working with them both. Please know of my prayers for your mom, Gar and your family .. and may your memories of her and them be a comfort to you at this challenging time
To the Vasey Family,
I have fond memories of your Mom coming into the ProShop to see your Dad at Chinguacousy Golf Club in the late 70's.
She was always smiling and made all of us working there feel special!
My deepest condolences.
