MacMILLAN, Paul Sylvester - Of Mount Forest, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in his 78th year at Grand River Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Paul was born on July 3, 1947 to Patrick and Evelyn MacMillan (née McGrath) of Glenelg Township. He married the love of his life Mary (née Braun) on August 14, 1971. They lived in Mount Forest for the past 54 years, raised three children, and created a beautiful life together. Paul is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Taunia Nielsen (Mark) and Amanda Goveas (Tyrone), daughter-in-law Kimberly MacMillan (née Bender). Paul was predeceased by his son Sean MacMillan. He was the proud grandfather of Jaxsen, Kalen, Oliver and Leah who were his pride and joy. They would tell you that he was a thoughtful, goofy, super and unique Grandpa. Paul will be missed by his twin brother Michael (Marg), his siblings Frank (Susan), Patrick, Cathy (Bob), Gerry (Jeanette), brothers-in-law Gord Bennett and Charlie Black, sisters-in-law Heidi Kaiser, Bridgette Bierhals, Monika Foertsch (Helmut), many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Don (Trudy), sister Mary Bennett, sisters-in-law Judy Gurris, Beatrix Black and brothers-in-law Peter Gurris, Len Kaiser, Hurbert Bierhals and Conrad Braun.
Paul was a dedicated employee at Grey County Roads Department for 23 years before retiring in 2009. He was a hardworking man, quick with a joke, loved spending time with his family, playing cards with his dearest friends and telling stories about the shenanigans he and his siblings would get into growing up on the farm. He had an infectious laugh and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23rd from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 7:45 p.m. at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Purification Roman Catholic Church, 310 Parkside Drive, Mount Forest. Please join the family in the church hall immediately following Mass for a luncheon.
