Marguerite Isabel “Marg” Williamson
December 4, 2024
WILLIAMSON, Marguerite Isabel “Marg” – Passed away peacefully at Strathcona Long Term Care on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in her 90th year. Marg is reunited with her husband of 65 years and best friend, Laverne “Vern” Williamson (2019).
Marg was the proud and loving mother of Eileen Holliday and her late husband Ralph (2009) of Mount Forest, and Dianne and her husband Bruce Leibold of Markham.
Dear grandmother of seven grandchildren: Alison (Mike) Doucette, Meredith Holliday, Matt (Tabitha) Holliday, Graham Leibold (Rebecca Sheluk), Collin (Melissa) Leibold, Kevin Leibold and Randi Mae Stanford-Leibold.
She will be fondly remembered by her nine great-grandchildren: Ryerson Doucette, Karson Doucette, Sutherland Holliday, Lakyn Holliday, Zeke Stanford-Leibold, Everleigh Leibold, Gerald Leibold, Etta Sheluk-Leibold and Coral Stanford.
Marg is survived by her sister Marie Nelson, sister-in-law Shirley Witherow, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Claude and Mary Witherow; brothers Elmer (Yvonne) Witherow, Robert Witherow; and brother-in-law Ray Nelson.
Marg touched many lives as a Sunday School Teacher at Letter Breen United Church. She was a familiar face in Mount Forest having worked at the Five Cent to the Dollar Store, Noonan’s Pro Hardware, Dundalk Bakery Outlet and Rudi’s Department Store. Marg took pleasure in her flowers and seeing the cardinals at the bird feeder, completing her daily word searches, watching the horse races and playing Rack-o with family and friends.
The grandchildren and some friends were reflecting on Grandma’s baking. Some of their favourites included zucchini loaf, strawberry jam, banana muffins, peach cobbler, and apple crisp.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Louise Marshall Hospital, the PSW’s from Right at Home and Care Partners, Guelph-Wellington Paramedics and the staff at Strathcona Long Term Care for their support.
A private family service will be held at the England Funeral Home with interment at Cochrane Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or Letter Breen United Church would be appreciated by the family.
Those we love don’t go away
They walk beside us everyday
Unseen unheard
But always near
Still loved
Still missed
And very dear.

Our deepest condolences in the loss of your Mother - Grandmother. I have many fond memories of going for "summer holidays" and family visits at Uncle Vern and Aunt Marg's farm, when I was young. It was always a fun time. May you always cherish your special memories of your Mom / Grandma
Eileen, Dianne and families. Sorry for your loss of a wonderful mother and grandmother. I vividly remember Margs frustration with Matthew and I in Sunday School, she tried and tried to get us to earn just one of those bible memory verse stars but we failed time and time again. Eventually I believe she just settled on being glad we were there. Also will miss the conversations we had while stopping at the house to get permission to hunt at the farm. Cherish the memories.
Sincere condolences on the loss of a lovely lady…our thoughts & prayers are with you all @ this sad time.
— Brian & Marilynne Adams, December 7, 2024Eileen, Dianne & Bruce & families:
Our heartfelt condolences at your loss of a mother & grandmother...I enjoyed my holidays at Aunt Marg & Uncle Vern's as a child, and the visits with them after growing up. Joking & laughter filled those visits as well as tasting Marg's yummy baking, or being given a zucchini loaf to take home for later!
Find a measure of comfort in your reminiscing about good times shared together...
with our caring & prayers,
Gary & Gwynne

Eileen and Dianne. My sincere sympathy. Thinking of you and your families.
— Grace Copeland, December 6, 2024Our sympathy to the Williamson family. Marguerite grew up and went to school at Calderwood with my mother and whenever I would meet Marguerite on the street in Mount Forest we would chat and she was always interested in the happening in her old neighbour hood. Marguerite always had a smile and was an interesting person to chat with. Our condolences.

— Lorne and Florence Moyer, December 5, 2024To The Williamson Family
I will always remember Mrs. Williamson doing her utmost to help me at the hardware store.
The bell on the door was a tertiary reminder that someone had entered, the sound of the ginormous door closing and the creaking of the sinusoidal hardwood floors when walked upon, the explicit two.
Clarey would sometimes emerge from his paper filled den with his trademark pocket protector encasing a multitude of writing instruments as well as an extra pair of looking glasses to rescue the day when the complexity of the request became too much of a challenge for her.
Once the purchasing dilemma was fulfilled, off I would go as she dutifully recorded the newly attained items on Noonan letterhead, ready to mail out at the end of each month.
Kind of a lost era one might say, but a treasured memory of life in a small town.
Eileen & family, my sincere condolences. She was such a nice lady.
— Susan Zonneveld, December 5, 2024Marg was a member of the Mount Forest Seniors Group, for a few months. We really enjoyed playing cards with her.
Rest in Peace Marg, you will be missed.
