My apologies for the late condolence to the Nelson families on the passing of Irene. I am truly grateful for having been in the presence of Irene when my family and I lived in Mount Forest. What immediately springs to mind is her sense of humour....the way she delivered those "zinger" lines and kept a straight face. You had to listen closely or you would miss it entirely and she would just stroll away not wiling to repeat it. May she rest in peace and keep everyone on their toes.

— Tali McGovern, August 15, 2024

Our deepest sympathy to you Bill and your family. Irene was a lovely lady with a ready smile and a kind word to everyone. She will be much missed.

— Greg & Nicole Yake, August 13, 2024

My heartfelt condolences to all of Irene's family. I believe my first encounter with Irene was through Woodland United Church which was many years ago and thus I have many fond and funny memories of Irene. She was a sweet heart who always had time to chat and something funny to say and make you smile. I always looked forward to her sweet tray which she would deliver to the law office around Christmas time and her butter tarts were one of my favourites. Thinking of her family at this time and keeping you all in my prayers. Hugs, Marie

Dear Bill, Lee, Laurie and families, my sincere condolences on the loss of your matriarch. She was a lovely lady, generous and creative. I think, for example, of the treats and baking that she so often brought to the staff at the office, always with a smile and a chuckle, and the question "Is my Billy boy here?"

— Donna Padfield, August 10, 2024

My condolences to Bill,Lee and Laurie and their families on the loss of a matriarch who clearly has raised an amazing family. I got to know her as she cared for her spouse first when he was in care and then she herself became a resident and we frequently spoke as friends over the years rather than as doctor and patient.

We were sad to read of your Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma's passing. She was a kind and friendly person who welcomed us with such warmth when we moved here many years ago. Those were the days that your Mom and Dad, Irwin, thrived as they actively participated in so many things like the Legion, the Mount Forest Fall Fair, Woodland Church..... She made our community a better place and will be missed by you, her loved ones, and so many more of us. Deepest sympathies to you all.

— Donna and Bob McFarlane, August 9, 2024

Patti and I send our deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. We always enjoyed speaking with Irene whether it was at your house, at the Legion while she would be working in the kitchen feeding the Lions Club or just passing each other on the street. Always a friendly, welcoming manner coupled with a great sense of humour. We all benefitted from her involvement & dedication to the local community. She will be greatly missed.
