Douglas "Doug" McNaney
February 4, 2024
Douglas (Doug) Stephen McNaney
Born March 9, 1961 – Toronto, Ontario
Doug left us peacefully to take his place among the other shining, nighttime stars on February 4, 2024 at the age of 62 years in Mount Forest, Ontario.
Doug was born in Toronto, Ontario on March 9, 1961 to Sharon O’Sullivan (nee O’Brien) and Douglas McNaney (deceased), and lovingly raised in Toronto, Port Elgin, North Bay, and Brampton, Ontario, and later in Bolton, Ontario with his parents Sharon and Barry O’Sullivan (Stepfather).
Doug was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband to his wife Deb McNaney (nee Jones). Doug and Deb’s incredible love is difficult to describe in words but shines so radiantly to all their friends and family who had the honour to witness it. In their amazing life together and through his final days, Deb was constantly by Doug’s side every day and night, giving love and support beyond compare.
Doug was the caring father of his son David (and granddaughter Emma), his daughter Miranda (and granddaughter Addison), son Bradley and stepson Jim Johnston (deceased). Doug is survived by his brothers Daniel, Terry (Margaret), Kevin (Brent); sisters Laura (Jim), Anne Marie (Derryl) and Joanne (Cyrus); and predeceased by his brothers David and Sean, and baby sister Mary. Doug was an honorary brother to his large, extended family, and a loving uncle to countless treasured nieces and nephews.
Doug finished high school in Brampton, Ontario and chose to follow in the noble life path as a butcher. His passion for feeding the world carried beyond food service though as Doug saw his career as not just a job, but as a daily and lasting relationship with every community member he served. This passion took Doug and Deb to new and exciting lives in communities all over Southern Ontario and to diverse locales across Canada such as Lake Louise, Alberta, Moose Factory, Ontario and Waskaginish, Quebec. In each of these places they made lasting friendships with countless colleagues and neighbours.
Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Sunday, February 11th from 12:00-12:45 p.m. where Doug’s Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered online at www.englandfuneralhome.com.
Doug’s wife Deb and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided Dr Julie Weinstein and the warm, caring Nursing Staff at Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest. We know that Doug would want the same love to be shared with future patients through a memorial gift in Doug’s honour at louisemarshallfoundation.ca.
~ Rest in Peace Doug ~
