Harriet Brydges Haddy

HADDY, Harriet Brydges - Peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in her 92nd year. She is reunited with her beloved husband of 67 years, Donald "Don" Alexander Haddy (2018). Loving mother of Kim Haddy and his wife Tracey, Grant Haddy and his wife Deborah. Cherished grandmother of Colton, Chelsea, Candace, Jamie, Krista, Kevin and Kyle. Great-grandmother of Wyatt and Alanah. Predeceased by her brother Roy and sisters Sheila and Nelda. She will be sadly missed by her sister Gert.
Harriet was born in London, Ontario and after marriage, lived with her husband in Manitoba, Quebec and back to Ontario for Don's work while raising their family. They moved to Mount Forest in 1979, and a few years later became owner/operators of Bookcraft and Upstairs Studio which was located on Main Street in Mount Forest. Harriet spent many years on the executive of the Clarkson Lacrosse Association. She was a lifelong fan of anything lacrosse.
The family wishes to thank her many great neighbours who helped make it possible to stay at her "happy place" at Lake Ballinafad until this year. We also wish to thank the staff at Riverbend Place in Cambridge who made her final months safe and comfortable.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest. Per her wishes, there will be no service and cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Harriet are asked to consider the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

Please accept my condolences at this sad time but your many memories of this delightful and gentle woman will always fill your hearts. I had made many trips in to their Book Craft Shop in Mount Forest as I have always been an avid reader. Those visits always included very fulfilling conversations with both Don and Hattie. They were a great addition to our community.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Harriet will be missed on the lake, by neighbours and friends. She always had a story to tell when you dropped in, and always asked what the kids were up to. Jake will miss telling her about his fishing adventures. A pleasure to meet both Don and Harriet when we moved to Drew.
