SMITH, Dagmar – Passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and best friend Kathy MacDonald on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the age of 64. Loving wife of Garf Smith of 44 years. Cherished mother of Danielle Smith and Aaron Smith and his wife Jessica. Adored grandmother of Landon, Makenna and Connor. Dear sister of Rainer Knickmann and sister-in-law of Debra Ferguson (Russell) and Dan Smith (Heather). Also survived by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Fritz and Ruth Knickmann and father and mother-in-law Archie and Violet Smith.
Dagmar worked at Waste Management and will be deeply missed by her Waste Management family.
The Smith family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who provided Dagmar care during this time.
To honour Dagmar’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Thursday, June 8th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dagmar are asked to consider Cancer Patient Services.

I have fond memories of having the privilege to work for Fritz, Garf and Dagmar for Phoenix Veneers Ltd., back in the years of 1995-97 approximately. Great people. She was always so helpful and knowledgeable about the processes and her drivers. She was cheerful and efficient. I was thrilled when she took the leap to sales. She was great at helping her customers, too! Her many years of experience made a huge difference to every one. For the newer staff, she never failed to lend a hand or offer perspective or insight. I would often start an email to her, "Can I pick your brain?" Reading the news about her passing really made me reflect on how Dagmar helped me be a better WM employee. I know I was super lucky to have learned from her. I feel certain that this sentiment will be echoed by most of her WM coworkers. I am also sure our loss pales in comparison to that of her family. I am so very sorry for your loss; however, I also am sure you were all so very blessed to have been able to have Dagmar leave such an indelible impact on your hearts and minds. She will be watching out for you all, always.
