When my family moved to our Egremont Township farm in 1972 the Brown family were one of the first families we met as they had a farm just around the corner. I remember many fun times hanging out at their farm with daughter Margaret and the family. The "crick" was at their corner and we spent many a hot day swimming there. Our parents enjoyed music and dancing and Mom remembers Glenn and Shirley doing the chauteusi dance. Eventually Glenn and Shirley moved into town and Scott, Ben Meyer and Tyler Smith were the first of many kids she babysat at her house. She babysat both Scott and Dana and cousins Brett and Kaleb. She was our "Shirsh". She loved the kids as her own and was the best Shirsh. They all still call her Shirsh. She was a fun, loving, caring gal who loved to dance and play her cards and she will be greatly missed. Mom and Dad just reconnected with her when they arrived back in Mount Forest and became neighbours again and they are very blessed to have had that time with Shirsh. We all love you and will miss you Shirsh. Our deepest condolences to all of Shirsh's family and I know they all have many wonderful memories as well that they will carry in their hearts and help them through this sad time. Hugs and blessings to you all. Rest in Peace Shirsh. We all love you and will miss you greatly. Wayne and Sue Coulson, Marie, Scott, Dana and family. xoxoxo

— Jennifer Wood, April 29, 2023We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Shirley. She was a wonderful woman and we would like to pass on our condolences to the entire family. I’ve known her since Heather and I were in Kindergarten. Our thoughts are with you all. Diane, Peter, Michael and Jenny Manojlovic
— Diane Manojlovic, April 28, 2023Our sons, Brett & Kaleb treasure many fond memories, as do we, of your mom, “Shirsh” as they called her, when she babysat them. This Easter Weekend we were reminiscing about her when Kaleb’s son was wearing one of the many sweaters she had knitted for the boys. She would always inquire about the boys when you bumped into her. She was a kind, loving person 😊.
May your memories bring your comfort at this difficult time
Our deepest sympathy to Shirley’s family. She was a neighbour behind us for many years & I have fond memories of both Shirley & Glen in the backyard. Great lady who will be missed very much by many who knew her. RIP Shirley!
— Janet Freiburger, April 27, 2023Dear Cheryl, David, Janet, Heather, and other family members,
My deepest sympathy goes out to you at this very sad time. After being neighbours in our earlier married life we had not met very often in recent years. But when we did, it was always to share stories of our families.
Our lifetimes have their "ups and downs" and this is one of those very sad "downs".
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Pauline Brown
Heather - So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom. Wishing you peace and comfort in these difficult days.
— Heather Nickerson, April 27, 2023My sincere condolences to all Shirley's family members. It was just a month or so that I saw Shirley at The Seniors' Club. She was playing euchre, I believe, and I had joined a board game. We always had a chat and a big smile for each other.
Shirley was a wonderful neighbour when I was living on the corner of James and North Water.
I did see and speak to her often when she picked up a neighbour here at Strathcona Village. Shirley was one of four ladies that sometimes lunched at the Spot restaurant, where I would occasionally see her and share a few words.
Many memories when we lived across the road from each other. It was a great neighbourhood.

To the family: Sorry for your loss. My Mom and Dad ( Fred and Margaret Dinneen) thought the world of Shirley and Glen and Glen's Dad Neil, as back in the day they were the best of neighbors and most of all close friends you could count on when times were hard.
Rest in Peace
Bob
