— Karla Gervais, May 4, 2023I am saddened to hear of Rene's passing. She was truly a unique and wonderful lady- always positive. She was a skilled meat cutter at a time when women did not normally take on that kind of job. Later on I enjoyed lots of great meals at her restaurants. One of Mt. Forest's finest citizens- she will be missed. My condolences to all of her family. Cam Noble, Waterloo

Rene was my first supervisor at my (real) first job - and I still remember her kindness and patience teaching me everything I needed to know. She had a passion for customer service and no matter what was going on - she always found a positive and calm way through it. We worked hard, and we laughed hard. I can honestly say
Rest in peace, dear Rene.
