Dear family.
As I sit at my piano today, my thoughts go back to the day when I first moved to Mount Forest. A young woman searching for more instructions and inspiration on the piano. I was directed to contact a lady named Dorothy Brown.
I remember the first day that I parked in the driveway of this beautiful home with all the flowers in bloom. I was greeted by the most welcoming lovely lady and a friendship began.
I still have my books of Chopin, Bach and Mendelssohn that she introduced me to. She pushed me further in my skills and knowledge and I am eternally grateful. She also spearheaded me into learning how to play the pipe organ and again , I am so grateful.
We never know who we will meet along our path or how they will influence us. I am so glad that Dorothy was someone that I came to know as a teacher and I still carry her skills and pass them on to my own students.
RIP beautiful Dorothy Brown.

My heartfelt condolences to Dorothy’s family. My love and thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.

Dorothy lived her life with passion and a fabulously fierce energy! I have many fond memories of her as Nicole’s Grandma, our neighbour, our church choir leader, and my piano teacher! No matter which hat she wore that day, she was always so kind to me. I feel fortunate to have seen Dorothy in August when I was home to visit family. She was as beautiful and as kind as ever, bouncing into my Grandma’s house dressed to the 9’s and in great spirits. She was as happy to see me as I was to see her - which warmed my heart! She truly had a joie de vivre and I know she will be deeply missed by so many throughout the community who were touched by her generosity of spirit. May she Rest In Peace.

We have fond memories of Dorothy and Wilson and the "kids" when I, Aletha, first moved to Mount Forest to join the Stewart household. They were one of the first families who welcomed my mother and I into the community and they remained faithful, lifelong friends with both my parents until their passing in 2005. We remember your kindness Flora and your special bond with Mom. Dorothy encouraged my music through choir and singing lessons. Wilson encouraged my career choice in teaching. There are too many memories throughout the years to share. Please know that your parents were both a special part of my family life in Mount Forest.
Love to you all from Aletha and Bob

— Aletha and Bob McArthur, December 30, 2022

Such warm memories of being in the Brown home during Flora’s and my teen years, Mrs. Brown raising her five children, teaching piano and I seem to remember her learning a second language all at the same time. What a force, living life to the fullest, each and every day.
