Peter Mogensen

MOGENSEN, Peter – It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Peter Mogensen is announcing his death which took place on Sunday, February 27, 2022; he was in his 70th year. He will be greatly missed by his wife Betty; daughters Alicia and Katrina; grandson Austin; great-granddaughter Gwendlyn and her mother, Dylynne.

Peter was born in Denmark and moved to Canada with his parents, Petra and Svend (both now deceased) when he was about six years old. He became a Canadian citizen a few years after being in Canada and has always been proud to be a Canadian citizen. He has also never forgotten his Danish heritage and proudly shared Danish recipes and traditions with his family for many years.
Additional family members who will mourn his loss include his sister, Lis Nielsen, brother Johan Mogensen and his wife Carolyn, and brother-in-law Mario De Buono. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Paul Goetz and his wife Cathy, brother-in-law Bob Goetz and his friend Kim, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peter was predeceased by his sister Anni and her husband Bent Mortensen, sister Ane Marie De Buono, and brother-in-law Aage Nielsen. He was also saddened to lose his niece, Marianne.

Many people will remember Peter as an artistic chainsaw carver, a knowledgeable chainsaw salesperson, and a skilled small engine mechanic. His immediate family will remember him as a loving father with an entertaining wit who could often make us chuckle.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest, on Sunday, March 6th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. You do not need to schedule an appointment to attend, please come anytime during scheduled visitation hours. Masks are mandatory. A private funeral service will be held. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation.

Condolences

I know this is so long since Peter passed, but I would like his family to know that I have a bear he carved in (approx.) 1997 that I still love today. It has been in hibernation for the last 18 years, but has come out and I am going refresh him. You may get some comfort in knowing that I have asked for advice with 3 carvers and 2 of them knew Peter and one told me if I mess up the bear he will fix it on Pete's memory. Peter will always be thought of when I look at this bear.

Our Heartfelt Sympathy to Betty, Alicia and Katrina and all of Peter's family. We remember him as making Mount Forest a great place to live as we watched him artistic talent with carvings at various areas. At a few gatherings we had to celebrate a friend's birthday, we were entertained with his good sense of humour. I thoroughly enjoyed hear of his adventure from Denmark to Canada and stories of his native homeland. You will treasure your happy memories as you miss this big man with a big heart.
