Condolences
In the early 1970's our family moved to Toronto and lived in a townhome in Etobicoke. Some months after we moved in, I was delighted with a knock at the door. It was Marty - She said "I am your new neighbour. I heard you are new to Toronto, so if you need any help, please call me." She didn't know what she was in for. We knew almost nothing about Toronto and we leaned hard on Marty, to help us get acquainted with the area. This led to many late night cups of tea and long chats. We lived side by side for many years and our friendship blossomed. Then, as all things do, things changed. We moved and she moved. We kept in touch but distance was a problem.
Then one day some years ago, I received a phone call. "Lorraine, please come for a cup of tea. I want to show you the little home Frank and I have put together for our retirement." I went immediately and as always, was met with a happy welcome. The house was truly lovely and again, "we must have a cup of tea".
After this reunion we had many more cups of tea. Marty was always laughing, joking and in great spirits. I was able to visit many times in their little house in Washago and also visited her and Frank at The Atrium in Orillia. However, due to age, distance and various other reasons I was not able to visit again.
Marty's greatest love, next to Frank of course, were for her 5 Grandchildren. They were the centre of her universe.
Her happy outlook, generosity and giving ways have touched us all.
Marty, I count you as my dearest Friend, and I will miss you.
Nana Marty was a strong woman who loved life and had a great sense of homour. I am grateful for all of the love and support she showed me in her life. I will miss her always.

Our deepest sympathies. Marty was a kind, wonderful and happy lady. When she laughed you couldn’t help but join in - her laughter was infectious. She welcomed everyone into her life with open arms and a loving heart. She will live on in our memories and through her grandchildren.
