Robert "Bob" Armstrong
July 25, 2021
ARMSTRONG, Robert “Bob” – Peacefully on Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at the age of 72. Cherished husband of Daphne Rappard. Loving father of Todd Armstrong (Victoria MacAskill) and Kevin Armstrong. Dear grandfather of Lars and Sutter. Survived by his brother Bill (Eleanor) Armstrong, sisters-in-law Marion (Tjebbe) Jaeger and Renée Nunan-Rappard. Bob will be missed by his extended family, including his nephews, nieces, and Amanda Zmija. Predeceased by his brother John “Jack” Armstrong and brother-in-law Tom Nunan.
An avid outdoorsman, mentor, and keeper of trails and ducks, his legacy will outlast him for many years, tempering the effects of cancer, Parkinson’s, and dementia in later years.
A come-and-go informal gathering will be held at the Cork Street Pavilion, Mount Forest, on Friday, July 30th, 2021 from 3:00-5:00pm. COVID protocols will be in place and mask wearing is encouraged. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to consider Make-A-Wish Canada, Mount Forest United Church-Green Team (local tree planting) or Ducks Unlimited Canada. Arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.

— Brett and Caitlin Reeves, August 4, 2021Daphne, we were so surprised and saddened to learn of Bob's passing. With little or no training going on you dont hear much about or from other instructors so we did not know how Bob was. Although not as close as we use to be these past few years we always thought highly of you both and the work you did for your church and in training new hunters and safe responsible firearms owners. Our sincere condolences to you and the boys. Bob was a great guy and will be missed.

— Verne and Pauline Mills, July 29, 2021Daphne and family, sending my sympathies to you. In reading the messages of memories and condolences, it is a perfect tribute to this man, and speaks volumes to what kind of person he was to others. What a life well lived to have touched so many in the way he did to each person here. Growing up as a younger cousin, he was kind and quiet, and took the time to really listen to what you had to say. I found him like that in my adulthood as well. He will be missed.
Hugs.

Daphne,Todd,Victoria and family,
We are so sorry that Bob passed away and it is good that he doesn’t have to suffer anymore. We remember Bob as a nice person. He was always willing to help when help was needed. He mowed lawns for people who could do it anymore. We remember also his great love for nature. For the Youth Nature Club he made a lot of birdhouse pieces so they could put them together. Playing shuffleboard in Belgium together was great fun! For us he was a good brother in law and we will always remember him. We think of you and wish you a lot of strength for the time to come.
Marion and Tjebbe Jaeger.
Daphne,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve.
We are so sorry to hear about Bob. He was a great cousin to me. I have not seen him for years, but the last time I saw him, he looked really good. It was at our Great Uncle Clare Armstrong's funeral and burial. We spoke that day and of course, I have not seen him since them. I am very shocked as I did not even know that he was sick. Please accept our sympathy in this sad loss.
Daphne, Todd, And Kevin: I’m sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Bob was a great man. Sharon Armstrong

Dear Daphne, lieve Daphne,
When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.
We’re saddened with the news of Bob’s passing away.
We will always remember him as a quiet yet joyful person with a good sense of humor. I will always remember the day we went to the cabin where he explained in great detail his love for nature and all that came with it. But also the last time the two of you were in Holland. The picture is taken at the beach at Noordwijk where we walked, had drinks and dinner. It symbolizes endless memories that we hope you will carry with you.
With love and hugs from Nelleke, Juliëtte & Paul
When I think of Bob one of the first things that comes to mind, is my first holiday in Canada where I stayed with Daphne and Bob. During a trip with them we passed a field where large white animals were grazing. Unfamiliar with the Canadian livestock I asked Bob what kind of animal this was. He answered really seriously (but I could not see his twinkling eyes!😊) " That is a white buffalo ". And I believed him (even though it was just a very large white cow). This has been our joke every time we saw or talked to each other. I'll remember him fondly and wish Daphne a lot of strenght to continue her path without him.
— Ellen Budelman, July 27, 2021Daphne and family, our deepest sympathy to all of you. We had a lot fun with Bob over the years with DU. He will be greatly missed by many.

Daphne and family: Our deepest sympathy to you and your family at this sad time. We have many good memories as children growing up in Garryowen and Annan area. Bob was always our older cool cousin, but always had time to share a joke (poke fun at) his younger relatives. He came from a kind and caring family; and grew into be as wonderful man as his father Uncle Elmer was. He will be missed and remembered fondly by the Hutchinson family. Elgin Hutchinson, Brad and Joanne Hutchinson Doupe.
