Dear Mrs. Brownrigg, I recently heard of your loss and would like to extrend my best wishes and condolences. Jim was a long time competitor in the educational supply business and a wonderful member of our industry. I saw him at the NSSEA conferences and always enjoyed our conversations. He was a great guy and will be missed. Yours truly, Peter Nosalik Roylco Limited 30 Northland Road, Waterloo, ON N2V 1Y1

Jim Brownrigg was a "sweetheart" of a man, and I am blessed to have known him, and been his friend. When I visited the COPA Show in Montreal, Jim welcomed me and my associates into his family of associates and friends. That is the way Jim was. He was a great businessman, but a better person, and his spirit certainly lives on with all of us.

— Peter Letendre, January 1, 2010

I wish to express my sincere condolences to Beverlee and all of Jim's family in this time of grief. I had the pleasure of knowing Jim who after having worked together for years became a good friend. Jim always had kind words to express about everyone and was so down to earth that everyone appreciated him regardless of their standing. I personally always thought of Jim as a simple and caring person who loved everyone and enjoyed being surrounded by friends. He will be greatly missed.

— Guy Laflamme, January 1, 2010

Bev: We are so sad to hear the news about Jim. He will truly be missed. We loved to come up and spend time at New Fairway Campground, singing songs, and sitting around the firepit with the both of you. It was so nice to see someone enjoy music and love to entertain people as much as Jim did. Port Elgin will never be the same again. Bev we will keep you in our prayers - and hope that the memories will help ease the pain of not having him here. But something tells me that he is still struming that guitar somewhere else right now and I'm sure the people are gathering around to listen. All our love Carol, Shawn, Matthew and Eric Lutz, Windsor, ON

— Carol, Shawn, Matthew & Eric Lutz, January 1, 2010

So sorry to hear that Jim passed away. He fought a good fight. We'll always remember that day we spent with him as he entertained us way back then! He certainly loved to sing and he did it very well. Our deepest sympathy to you all.

Dear Bev, It is with a great sadness that we learn about the passing of Jim. Jim is the only Real Cowboy that I knew ... and the only kind of this style ! His constant passion to is friends, was a inspiration to all of us. We often refer to him in any circonstances, again we were referring to him last weekend at a fishing party, we alway clean the fishes... with the Acme scissors that JIM gave to Pierre.... so we believe they are giving us some Fishing LUCK .!... We are certain that Jim and Pierre now are fishing together....for ever. All the Best, Jeanne, Marie-Jos

Dear Bev and Family, So sorry to hear of Jim's death. We will keep you in our prayers during these difficult days. Joyce & John McLean and boys.

— Joyce & John McLean, January 1, 2010

Bev, Life without Jim will never be the same....life will go on...but he will be truly missed. He touched people in a very special way...he was generous, he had a big heart, and a wonderful laugh. I loved to listen to him sing and play the guitar...even though I don't think he ever finished a whole song....people were drawn to Jim...they loved to be with him...he lived his life to the fullest...as we all should... Thinking of you Bev, Love Kim

— Kim Pirie, January 1, 2010

Beverlee, Rick & Judy, Ryan & Mark: As you know, Jim is not the kind of person you easily forget. My dad worked with Jim for many many years, and I remember the "Acme" cornroasts and Jim playing all the Hank Snow songs on his guitar, while us kids were sent to bed! And then I worked with Jim, and it was never the same after he retired. I just wanted to let you know that I will remember Jim with a smile:) Sandra Bulley

Ode to Jim Brownrigg: I remember the day that I met him - I am srue that each of you do, A legend in Office Products - (he sold a scissor or two!). He hooked up with an outfit named Acme - they needed a helping hand; They put all of their stock in Jimmy - and boy did they find their man!! He traveled the country from coast to coast - with his bag full of wares and guitar; He finessed and fan-dangled new clients, and was thrown out of a couple of bars!! Late nights pricing; hotel rooms & sales calls - you see this was the life for Jim, Persistent, well spoken and down to earth - the orders came rollin' in!! So he hired a gal named Bevy, to run the home office base, He taught her about Acme, sang her some songs and soon they were kissing face. But back to our man Jimmy - his dedication was full, The years went by, competition grew - but Jimmy took no 'Bull'. Acco didn't scare him, neither did Buffalo or Sotel.... and the language didn't phase him, he spoke French and English well! But the towns seemed farther down the road with every passing year, and the business grew in leaps and bounds & Bevy needed him here. So Roche and Susan came on board, along with Pirie-Mckie, and history in the making - was soon about to be! Jim lead them all to battle, taught them what to do and say, Why Jim Mckie and Jim were soon famous; (of course in their own special way). Not a man alive could drink like Jim and get up for a show, Smoke 3 packs of butts, get 2 hours of sleep, and still be in the know! Last of the Super Salesmen - determined to have a good time, Work hard and play hard and drive a Big Car & always coming up fine. The Art of Sales won't be the same without this talented man, A devastating blow for push pins...which we may never understand..... But it's not just the salesman I admire...It's much more deep inside, He's a genuine, lovable person - his personal touch is wide. A man of many stories, a legend for all time; Sweet, adorable, giving Jimmy...... A special friend of mine. A work Mentor.....a life friend... I will never forget u Jimmy....Cheers. Love you Bevy. x0x0 Nina Webber

I was thinking about Jim only last week and was about to to phone Roch Forget to find out about Jim's where abouts when I received the note of his passing. It is with great sadness that I send my condolences to Bev and Jim's extended family. Mixed with that sadness is also a smirk as I think about Jim, the fun, the music and the friendship. I was not a person who knew Jim long or was in presence for extended periods but I saw what respect and friendship he had amongst those in the industry. This is what drew me to him. We know that Jim will end up in heaven as heaven always has room for characters and Jim surely fits that bill. Marc Wolff

— Marc Wolff, January 1, 2010

Dear Bev. and family, We are very sorry to hear of Jim's death. We hope that his suffering was minimal and that he is at peace. While we can appreciate your loss and grief we can also appreciate your relief of his suffering. We are sorry that we can not be with you in person, but rest assured we are with you in spirit. There must be a special place for Hank Snow fans and guitar pickers. Maybe he'll keep "Ole Hank" on his toes. Please use our e-mail to keep in touch and advise when you will be in the area and we will ask Ron to do the same. May God bless you all. Deedee and Terry

Dear Beverlee and the Brownrigg family - it is with much sadness I read of Jim's passing. As you know Bev, when I became a buyer in the office products industry, Jim was one of the first persons I came into contact with in the vendor community. He was always willing to help me as I cut my teeth in the industry. People come and go in our business but I will always remember Jim, his good nature, and how he made me feel like a veteran even though I was just a rookie. I only wish I had a chance to hear him play. My sincere condolences in this difficult time. Sincerely Gord Semple.

It was a great sorrow to learn that Jim has passed away. When my father called me into his office all he could say was that he had some really bad news. What we are feeling right now is very hard to put into words. Jim has been a great friend of our family for years. When it came to business trips all Jim and I needed was a guitar and place to stay. Nashville will never be the same.

— Dwayne J. Baldwin, January 1, 2010

Mrs. Brownrigg, please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your husband and extend my deepest sympathies to your family. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I am so sad to learn that our dear friend Jim is no longer with us. It is hard to believe that we just visited with him at McMaster when he seemed so upbeat. Jim and I worked together for more than 40 years. He was an inspiring and genuine man that never missed an opportunity for laughter with those around him. We will always smile when we recall the stories and the great times we had together. Jo and I wish to offer our heartfelt compassion to family and friends, along with a special embrace for Bev. We will miss Jim dearly. Sincerely, Wayne & Elaine (Jo) Baldwin, Baldwin School Supply Ltd.

— Wayne Baldwin, January 1, 2010

Dear Bev, We were very sorry to hear about Jim this morning from Roch. We wish to pass on our sincere condolences to you and his family. Wonderful memories of Jim will last a long, long time. In our industry, Jim was a huge supporter of his fellow colleagues. He always had helpful insights for our company, Hutchings & Patrick. Moreover, Jim had a great sense of humour which he mixed with his strongly held opinions on many issues. His love for Canada was a theme he frequently promoted (we fondly remember his speech at the AQIF Show in 2002). He will be sorely missed by all of us. He played a key role in the many table-top shows we participated in together across North America. Our thoughts are with you and his family during this sad time, Bev. Bruce, Hutchings & Patrick Inc.
