Condolences
A Great Man has passed... Sam Hall, emmigrant from Ireland, started as a farm hand in his adopted country Canada. An opportunity, policeman in Milton, fitted him to a tee. His stories of 'justice by Sam Hall' fitted the times and needs of the small town. Sam Hall would handle it, with a fair hand and sense of humor. His dememanor earned the position of police chief. His reputation advanced him to the OPP. His 'smart uniform' attracted Irene Randall to be his wife. They raised two great kids to prosper in their own right and produce terriffic grandchildren. He honed his work working skills to produce beautiful furniture. You could not ask for a better uncle. Funny...with a sneaked piece of candy, he would let you sit in the front seat of the patrol car and turn on the siren. Sam retired from service to his country, married Betty, when he moved up north to return to his Irish roots, farming. His new home/garden was a masterpiece, with ample donations from his harvest. Sam Hall served his country and family, always with his Irish smile. A Great Man has passed... "May God Hold Him in the Hollow Of His Hand." -Irish Blessing. dg nyc
— Doug Gowland, July 13, 2012I first met Sam & Irene in late 60's in Tillsonburg, they were my in-laws, Pep & May Martin's next door neighbours. Over the years our families had many good laughs. Sam was awesome with our kids growing up.It's funny how life's changes intertwine. Later in life when I re-married, we lived around the corner from Sam & Betty on their farm near Mount Forest. We've kept in touch for many years. Mr. Gowland your words of a Great Man says it all, Sam was one in a million and will be missed by all who have had their lives enriched by his presence.
