Mel was a good friend of mine, in fact he was a friend to my entire family. He will be missed. I remember my 1st week in Mount Forest, I was standing by the back door of the rectory and Mel walked over and said Fr. I saw you standing here and I just want to tell you as long as you are here in Mount Forest your father Clem will be here as well. I remember my 1st Thanksgiving at Mount Forest, I spent it with the Hoffman family, Lauren was just a baby and Mel cooked a huge turkey in some sort of a container outside. It was delicious. I remember sitting in the RV in the parking lot on several summer days with Mel and Laura, having a few beers, smoking cigarettes and chatting about anything we could think of. I was happy to reconnect with him and Laura when I returned to Mount Forest and even though we believe in eternal life it is never easy for us who are left behind as our loved ones go on to a better and greater life. However, love is eternal so we know that they are always with us because love never ceases to exist. Please know that I am remembering Mel in my prayers and Masses and I also remember all of you in my prayers at this time of loss. Mel was proud of all of you. I wish that I could be with you at this time but circumstances make it impossible. I notified my sisters and I am certain they will be with you to share your sorrow. Love & Prayers Fr. Murray
